Let's Get Started!
Welcome by DYunC 2020 sponsor, Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry, Diocese of Youngstown, Director Cindee Case
|
If we would have gathered for DYC'20 in person,
we would have started the day with a General Session that would have included music, welcome, prayer, and a keynote presentation..... translating that to an online format, we are presenting a few of those elements: 1. Welcome by Diocese of Youngstown Administrator Msgr. Robert Siffrin 2. Welcome by Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry Director Cindee Case 3. Short message by International singer, composer and speaker Steve Angrisano 4. Adding to Steve's message is a video on All Saints Day 5. Litany of the Saints video to pray along with, knowing that dozens of others around the diocese will have prayed along with this video as well - joining us with each other and with the Communion of Saints! |

As you may already be aware, we are currently a "Vacant See"
which means we are a diocese without a bishop (May Bishop George Murry, S.J. rest in peace). Until the Vatican appoints a new bishop, our Vicar General, Msgr. Siffrin handles many of the responsibilities. Please keep him in your prayers as he also oversees St. Edward Parish in Youngstown. |
Steve Angrisano is an internationally known singer, composer, musician and speaker who has been part of nearly every NCYC (National Catholic Youth Conference),
7 World Youth Day International Gatherings, and numerous diocesan, parish and campus events. He is a recording artist with OCP. You can learn more about him, his songs, his CDs and other products by visiting: www.ocp.org/en-us/artists/2763/steve-angrisano |

TAKE A QUIZ
Which American Saint are You? A fun game to see which of the American Saints you most closely align. I got You are St. Damien of Molokai (which was a nice surprise as I have dreamed of living in Hawaii!) Sign up for 4 weekly emails to Explore The Saints with Ave Maria Press Ave Explores: The Saints will look at the process of canonization, how we can grow closer to the saints, and call upon them for support and prayer as we welcome them into our homes and families. We will see how the Communion of Saints is far from distant, boring, or confusing, but is instead a beautiful and wonderful part of the life of the Church, and a gift to faithful, everyday Catholics who strive for holiness just like the saints. www.avemariapress.com/aveexplores-series/signup NAME THE SAINT How many Saints in the slide show at the bottom of this page can you name? (A few are easy if you pay attention, others might be a bit more challenging.) |
Prayer Journaling I go through phases when I love to journal - sometimes it takes the form of letters I write to God, other times I write my reflections on a Scripture verse or Church song, and still other times I just write about what I see and look for how God is in what I see. You can write a question and see what reactions come... it might be God speaking to you! An artistic friend who can sketch often draws in her journal. It does not matter what you put in - or how you put in - entries in the journal, it is that you are taking time with God - and that you are using your hands as well as your brain and heart. So, grab a notebook, bound journal book, or even your laptop if you prefer to type, and write (or draw) what you are feeling, wanting, loving, needing, wondering, etc. Suggested journaling reflections today: A. Reflecting on the Saints - what did watching the videos, reading the articles and participating in these activities mean for you? What was affirming? What was challenging? B. Which prayers styles did you pray today? Did they help you feel God's presence in a deeper way? Did one style appeal to you more than others? If so, how so? |
